The Partnership for the Preservation of the Down East Lakes Watershed (PPDLW) is a volunteer organization of people who love the scenic lakes that straddle Penobscot and Washington Counties in Maine, known as the Downeast Lakes. The region is blessed with a constellation of more than 15 lakes, many of which are connected by water. The watershed stretches from Keg Lake in Penobscot County to West Grand Lake and Big Lake in Washington County. These scenic lakes are home to sporting camps and lodges, the storied Downeast Lakes Land Trust, and the quaint town of Grand Lake Stream. Our members are devoted to preserving the nature and beauty of the area, and to protecting it from inappropriate development. We are property owners, visitors, and business owners who treasure this unique region.
